    The Southeast Golden Buffaloes have a new head coach as Erik Dobbins takes command of the herd. They will be in good hands with senior signal caller Tarik Adkins back under center and Brandon Payne back as a defensive back.

    The Wichita South Titans have a new head coach as Paul Lopez takes the reins of the program. He was on staff last year and has learned from some of the best minds in athletics.

  • 1st and Ten: Wichita West

    The Wichita West Pioneers enter year six under head coach Weston Schartz. During these grueling two-a-days the legendary high school coach says he is figuring out who wants to pay the price and who doesn't.   One thing the Pioneers hope to shore up this season is their defense.

    The Andover Central Jaguars will try to bounce back from a 2-7 season last year with a solid group of 16 seniors. Injuries played a big role in their 2016 campaign and that's why this offseason the Jags have been working hard to get faster and stronger to try to avoid those problems this fall.

  • Derby community celebrates state champion Panthers

    The community of Derby has plenty to celebrate in their high school football team. On Monday the city held a public celebration for their 6A State Champion Panthers.

  • Derby tops Blue Valley 17-14 for Kansas 6A state title

    Dan Dawdy threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns, Blayten Tullis kicked the go-ahead field goal with 27 seconds left and Derby beat Blue Valley 17-14 for the Kansas 6A state title on Saturday. Brody Kooser added 139 yards rushing for the Panthers (13-0), who also beat the Tigers (12-1) in last year's title game. It was the third championship for Derby and second in four years.

  • Bishop Miege rolls past Buhler 53-21 for Kansas 4A-I title

    Carter Putz threw for 343 yard and five touchdowns, three of them going to Jafar Armstrong, and Bishop Miege rolled to a 53-21 victory over Buhler on Saturday in the Kansas 4A-I title game. Landry Weber also had a touchdown for the Stags (12-1), who lost their opener to 6A state runner-up Blue Valley before ripping off 12 straight wins. That included a 52-0 blowout of Basehor-Linwood in the semifinals that gave Bishop Miege a shot at its third consecutive state title.

  • Pratt beats Hayden 48-14 for Kansas 4A-II state title

    Travis Thies piled up 261 yards and four touchdowns to lead Pratt to a 48-14 victory over Hayden in the Kansas 4A-II state championship game Saturday. The Greenbacks (12-1), who were just 4-5 a year ago, were never challenged by their rival from Topeka in winning their first state championship in 21 years.

  • Mill Valley beats Goddard 35-34 in OT for Kansas 5A title

    Mill Valley took advantage of a missed extra point by Goddard in overtime, scoring a touchdown and converting its own point-after for a 35-34 victory Saturday in the Kansas 5A state championship. Brody Flaming threw for 200 yards and five touchdowns, including a 10-yard pass to Evan Rice in overtime, as the Jaguars (9-4) capped a remarkable turnaround following four losses early in the season.

  • Troy beats Plainville 28-24 for Kansas 2-1A state title

    Reid Greaser threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns, including the go-ahead score late in the third quarter, to help Troy beat Plainville 28-24 on Saturday in the Kansas 2-1A championship game. Brody Winder had five catches for 207 yards and two touchdowns for the Trojans (13-0), who were making their second straight trip to the title game.

  • Rossville beats Hesston 48-42 in OT for Kansas 3A title

    Jacob Bradshaw threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more, including a 10-yard run in overtime, to give Rossville a 48-42 victory over Hesston in the Kansas 3A state title game Saturday. Bradshaw was 11 of 16 for 148 yards while adding 275 yards on the ground for the Bulldogs (12-1), who won their second state championship in the past three years. Dawson Hammes added 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Cole Schumacher had nine catches for 135 yards and three scores.

  • 8-Man State Championships

    Kansas 8-Man State Championship games were played in Newton Saturday. Division I: The Osborne Bulldogs defeated the St. Francis Indians by a score of 38-24. Division II: The Hanover Wildcats beat the Dighton Hornets 68-22. This was the Wildcat's third straight trip to the state title game, and their first win of the three.
