WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - USA Lacrosse and Visit Wichita are hosting the women’s collegiate lacrosse associates (WCLA) Division I and Division II National Championships. It's the first time this tournament has come to Kansas.

"We kind of looked around, we had conversations with a few people from Visit Wichita and it kind of sounded too good to be true. And then we got here and realize it's an amazing location.”

Twenty eight of the best non-varsity collegiate lacrosse players from Clemson, UCLA, Texas A&M, Michigan, and more, lace up to  compete for bragging rights in the WCLA Championships.

Due to Monday’s stormy weather, the WCLA readjusted it’s schedule. The first four games were originally supposed to begin at nine a.m. Those games started at noon instead, so that the teams could arrive safely.

Kristy Nutt, the director of events at USA Lacrosse says, "We really lucked out. We kind of packed everything back up, and then came back out here first thing in the morning and could not have asked for a more perfect day."

The WCLA Championships are free to attend, and run from May 7th to 10th. Click here to view the full schedule of games.
