MINDEN, Iowa (KAKE) - A southwest Iowa community is closed off to non-residents after a tornado swept through town on Friday, ABC affiliate KETV reports.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office estimated between 40 to 50 homes in Minden, about 30 miles northeast of downtown Omaha, were destroyed. Early Saturday morning, county officials confirmed four injuries were reported. Three of those people were treated and released. The fourth remains in the hospital, officials said in a news release.

The tornado tore through Minden at 6 p.m. on Friday, breaking gas lines, causing gas leaks and tearing down power lines. The city remains without power.

Officials are not seeking outside volunteer assistance yet.

In total, Pottawattamie County officials believe about 120 homes and businesses county-wide are damaged.
