KANOPOLIS, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issued a boil water advisory Wednesday for the City of Kanopolis public water supply system located in Ellsworth County.

The KDHE says the advisory was issued due to a line break, which resulted in a loss of pressure in the system.

Until the advisory is lifted, customers should either use bottled water, or boil water for one minute before drinking or food preparation. In addition, ice cubes should be disposed, and to flush water lines if tap water appears to be dirty. Also, disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
