WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 69-year-old woman has died after suffering a medical emergency and crashing her car into the Newton Walmart, a city spokesperson said.

The incident happened shortly before noon Friday morning at the Walmart at 1701 S Kansas Road. Several KAKE viewers sent in photos of the scene, showing a black Ford Focus halfway into the Vision Center.

The woman was identified late Friday afternoon by Newton Police as 69-year-old Wanda Hoyle. Police say her family has been notified.

A City of Newton spokesperson said first responders pronounced Hoyle dead at the scene.

No one inside the Walmart was harmed, but the store was evacuated and closed due to structural damage. It will reopen at 6 a.m. Saturday.
