WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One person is dead following a submersion in S. Wichita.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 1100 block of E. 63rd Street South at approximately 2:15 p.m. after a person who called 911 advised that a body was seen in a pond.

Lieutenant Daniel Oliver of the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department says that they discovered a man's body along the shoreline, fully clothed, in an area that proved difficult to get to. Fire Departments from Derby and Wichita assisted with the recovery efforts.

The man has been in the water for some time, making identification difficult, but is thought to be a White or Hispanic person in his 30s or 40s.

The incident is under investigation.
