One dead following overnight fire

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One person is dead after a house fire in the 1100 block of S. Wichita St. 

At approximately 1:00 am, Wichita Fire crews were dispatched to a house fire. Crews arrived to find flames coming from the home and quickly began working to extinguish the blaze. Because of the intensity of the fire, only one bedroom was searchable prior to extinguishment.

After the fire was extinguished, a secondary search of the home was completed. During the search, one person was found dead in the home. The person was located in a place that had been heavily involved in fire when the crews arrived.

The Wichita Fire Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the fire and whether or not the death was suspicious.
