BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

A highway is shut down after a cattle truck overturned in Butler County early Tuesday morning.

Butler County dispatchers confirm the single-vehicle accident occurred around 3:20 a.m. on U.S. 54 – about 8.5 miles east of El Dorado, between El Dorado and Rosalia.

Butler County Undersheriff Tony Wilhite said the driver left the roadway for unknown reasons, and the cattle hauler semi overturned. There are cattle on the loose. They are being corralled and taken offsite.

Other than the cattle, nobody was hurt in the crash.

The highway is closed, close to the crash site, so crews can clean up and get the semi-truck upright.

Wilhite said visibility is poor due to the thick fog. He advises people to avoid the area.
