Surveillance video captures thieves stealing from West Wichita Church

Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for thieves after church surveillance cameras capture suspects stealing parts off of buses at Bethel Baptist Church.

Church members said on the night of December 26, 2019, at least three suspects pulled into the church parking lot and removed parts off of two buses. The thieves got away with a catalytic converter and a muffler, totaling up to more than $1,000 in lost property.

Tom Logan has been a member of Bethel Baptist Church for more than 30 years. He also maintains the buses that are used to pick up children and elderly members who otherwise may not be able to go to church.

Logan said this isn't the first time thieves have targeted the church. On April 18, 2019, a man smashed a church van window, climbed in, started the vehicle, and sped off.

If you know anything about the case, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
