Safe NYE Celebrations: WPD warns against drinking and driving

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

We're just hours away from the new year.
And before you start celebrating, it's important to have a plan.

Several bars in Old Town will have extra security on hand.
For transportation, the Q-line trolley will be running up and down Douglas throughout the night for free.
One reveler says he's already planning on getting an Uber and encourages his friends to do the same.

"Just don't do it. It's that simple. I'll buy the cab, the Uber, whatever you need. I'd expect any one of my friends to do the same. The idea is you don't want to endanger yourself or anybody else," says Alec Maloy.

If you're arrested for drunk driving, you could face jail time, have your license suspended, and pay costly fees.
