Transportation officials in Tennessee are using a Christmas classic to help them remind drivers to be safe.

AFC affiliate WJHL reports over 160 highway signs across the state we programmed with a message channeling Cousin Eddie from "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."

The signs read, "COUSIN EDDIE SAYS TWITTERS FULL. PUT DOWN THE PHONE."

We all known the scene, don't we? Clark Griswold's cousin Eddie -- in a short robe and a trooper hat, smoking a cigar and drinking a Meister Brau -- is using a hose to empty his RV's waste tank into a storm drain. A neighbor sees Eddie who hold up his beer and says, "Merry Christmas! Sh***er was full!"

"What a perfect message for this time of year on myTDOT overhead signboard!" The Tennessee Department of Transportation said on Facebook.
