GOODLAND, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 75-year-old woman was killed when a semi collided with her vehicle on a northwest Kansas highway.

The accident happened just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on K-27 about 10 miles north of Goodland. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a northbound semi went left of the center line and crashed into a southbound minivan. The semi rolled onto its passenger side in a ditch.

The woman driving the minivan, Shirley Barnhart, of Goodland, was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was the only person in the vehicle.

The 42-year-old man driving the semi had minor injuries. It's unclear why the semi went into oncoming traffic.
