1 person critically hurt in Wichita apartment fire

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita fire officials say one person is in critical condition after they responded to an apartment fire near Riverside.

Crews responded shortly after 4 p.m. Friday to a fire at Pinnacle Lofts and Apartments at Central and Waco. The Wichita Fire Department said on Twitter that the fire was contained to one room and was extinguished by a sprinkler system.

One victim was in critical condition, but officials did not elaborate. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    Officers have shut down part of eastbound Kellogg in downtown Wichita because of an injury accident. The accident happened around 3:45 a.m. Thursday in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg, west of the Central Business District exit. One person has serious injuries. Eastbound traffic has been shut down at Seneca. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and it could be several hours before the area is reopened.
