Wichita man charged with murder in fatal beating

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A Wichita man has been charged with murder after beating another man so badly that he later died from his injuries. 

35-year-old Steven Speakman appeared in court on Tuesday for his involvement in the beating death of 33-year-old Haley Collins. 

On August 21st, Speakman and Colllins got into an argument in a Dillons parking lot near 21st Street North and Rock Road. 

A physical altercation broke out, resulting in Collins receiving life-threatening injuries. Collins was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Speakman has been charged with 2nd degree murder and placed on a $250,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 19th.
