Ramps to Broadway shutdown until November

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Drivers who travel along the interstate North of Wichita will need to find another route until November.

That construction project is shutting down two major ramps starting today.

Originally only one ramp was supposed to be shut down. But because of all the rain we had this Spring, workers are behind schedule, and condensing to make up for lost time.

Here's what you need to know: you can't get off of Broadway if you are East bound on 235. The West bound get off is still open, but both exits will be closed - the loop to get on, and the exit off.

To navigate the closures, you can go around off 29th st, 53rd st, and Meridian. Another alternate route would be 37th st.

This is all part of the larger project to expand to 6 lanes from meridian to 235, and to improve bridges.

This stretch of the project is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving.
