City council members will attend the launch for scooters in Wichita on Monday.
The first launch will be at 2nd and Main in downtown Wichita at the Bike ICT station at 10 a.m.
In early July, city council members approved permits from two companies to deploy scooters in the city. Another company has also been approved. The first company to deploy them will be Zagster, which already provides bikes for the Bike Share ICT program.
Under city regulations: - Scooters can't be used on sidewalks - They can only be operated between sunrise and sunset or 9 p.m., whichever is earlier. - Drivers using the rental Scooters must be 18 years or older - The rental charges will be processed via smartphone apps - users will be charged $1 to start the ride and 15 cents for each following minute.
Scooters can also not be operated by users under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
