Paxton's Blessing Box gets a new home

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A six-year-old boy with a vision. Two years ago, Paxton Burns and his mom, Maggie Ballard went to Dollar Tree and spent just $38 on food to give away.

"He had the idea of putting it in the front yard and saying let's see what happens," says Ballard.

That was almost three years ago. Now, Paxton and his mom have given away thousands of pounds of food and built 50 boxes around the state. One even stands in North Carolina.

"We were expanding and growing so fast that we were definitely outgrowing our basement," says Ballard.

Since the start of their journey, Ballard has stored all donations in her own home. At times, it was impossible to even see her living room floor underneath all the food. That all changed this past weekend when a local church offered Paxton's Blessing Box a new home.

"I've been praying really hard for over a year...it was incredible, honestly," says Ballard.

Now, the sky is the limit for Paxton, whose dreams haven't stopped growing.

"I don't even think he realizes what all he's learning in these last couple years," says Ballard.

Follow Paxton's Blessing Box on facebook here for more updates and information on upcoming events.

They will hold a back to school food drive August 17th at Dillon's on 21st and Amidon.
