A 19-year-old mother died of cancer just months after delaying treatment to deliver her son -- who passed away less than two weeks after his premature birth.
Brianna Rawlings spent just 12 days with her son, Kyden, before he died. A GoFundMe page says the boy was born at 26 weeks in September.
People reports Rawlings, of Sydney, Australia, was diagnosed with leukemia and delayed chemo in an attempt to carry Kyden safely to term.
"She was given 2 very raw and heartbreaking decisions - her selfless and caring side shining through - without hesitation, chose to halve her own chances of survival in order to give her son a fighting chance with as much time as possible - womb side," the page says.
“For 12 whole days this beautiful little miracle graced his mum and dad with his presence. 12 short but magical and treasured days, before tragically; growing his angel wings and leaving such devastated and broken parents behind.”
Rawlings celebrated the birth in a Facebook post, saying “Nothing makes me happier than watching my son grow bigger and stronger!”
After her son died, Rawlings underwent chemotherapy, radiation therapy and a cell transplant. She died on December 29.
