Burglary, chase suspect in arrested after standoff

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 27-year-old man wanted in connection to multiple vehicle thefts and a high-speed chase is in custody.

The Reno County Sheriff's Office says John Smalling Jr was arrested following a short standoff in Butler County. Hutchinson police said Tuesday that he was believed to be armed and dangerous. 

Smalling had a warrant for his arrest through the Reno County Sheriff’s Office for burglary and has been tied to crimes in Haven, Hutchinson, Inman, McPherson, Medora and Wichita.

The Hutchinson Police Department is seeking help in finding a suspect linked to multiple vehicle thefts and high speed chases. 

John David Smalling Jr. has a warrant out for his arrest and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Smalling is a 27-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He stands at about 6'3" and weighs around 186 lbs. He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck that reads "Madi"
