Wichita police say a 35-year-old man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the head has turned himself in. 

Officer Charley Davidson said Friday morning that Bryant Douglas Jr., turned himself in to the Sedgwick County Jail. Booking records show he's being held for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, criminal possession of a firearm and a parole violation. 

Officer Davidson released information on the suspect Thursday afternoon. 

The shooting happened at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday to a shooting near Bluff and Vesta, near Fairmount Park. Officers arrived to find a 41-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head. 

The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. She remained hospitalized on Friday. 

Officer Davidson said the woman was traveling in a vehicle with her boyfriend, Douglas, and the two got into an argument. Douglas then struck her multiple times and fired one shot before fleeing the scene.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Douglas has prior convictions of aggravated battery, drug possession, drug possession, aggravated escape and driving while suspended. He was last paroled in September and was listed as an absconder on Wednesday.
