Wichita man arrested for attempted murder of 2-month-old son

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police say a 20-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged abuse and attempted murder of his 2-month-old son.

Jail record show Thomas Harper was booked late Tuesday night for attempted first-degree murder, child abuse and four counts of aggravated battery. He was held without bond Wednesday morning.

Officer Charley Davidson said officers responded at around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday to a report of possible child abuse at Wesley Medical Center. The boy had serious injuries to his face and leg.

Child abuse victim celebrated on would-be birthday

The child's 20-year-old mother told police the boy was asleep when she left him in Harper's care and when she returned, the child has sustained multiple injuries.

Police located Harper at his home and took him into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
