Police arrest man who allegedly broke into Wichita business

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly broke into a local business and stole property and cash.

Officers were called at around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning to a burglary in progress call at Scenic Landscapes at 5911 West Maple. When they arrived, they saw the suspect fleeing the business in a vehicle. 

Officer Charley Davidson said Carlos Gonzalez Jr., was taken into custody without incident at Julia and University. He was in possession of property and cash.

"The investigation revealed damage to the front door of the business, the business ransacked and approximately $5,000 in tools, supplies and equipment was stacked outside of the business," Officer Davidson said in a news release.

Gonzalez, of Valley Center, was booked into jail for theft, burglary and four counts of failure to appear. 

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Gonzalez has a prior convictions of theft and drug possession.
