Tax day deals: free food, discount services

Like it or not, taxes are due Tuesday. As you file your returns, there may be a big reason to celebrate: freebies and deep savings.

A number of restaurants and retailers are giving people sweet rewards. Please note that some local retailers do not participate in these deals, so it’s always best to ask while you shop. Some offers are valid while supplies last. Here’s what’s being offered:

Applebee’s – Celebrate Tax Day with $1 margaritas. The deal lasts the month of April.

Ashley Furniture – Get 10% off any order using promo code REFUND10. Valid until April 17.

Baskin Robbins – Get $2 off a large Cappuccino Blast or buy-one-get-one free $.99 ice cream cones. These deals are available via the Baskin Robbins app.

Chili’s – The restaurant is serving a Cherry Blossom Margarita for $5 for the month of April.

Firehouse Subs – Free medium sub when you buy a full-prized medium or large sub, chips and drink. Click here to get the coupon. Deal valid from April 17 to 19.

Great American Cookies – Free Cookies & Cream cookies on Tuesday.

Hardees – Free sausage biscuit. The deal is available from 7 to 10 a.m. Tuesday. Just be sure to mention “made from scratch." Click here for details.

Hooters – Kids 12 and younger eat free with an adult, purchasing $10 or more. Tuesday only.

McDonald’s – Locations are expected to offer Tax Day deals via its smartphone app.

Noodles & Company – Now through Wednesday, you can take $4 off your online orders of $10 or more. You need to place them on the restaurant’s website. Use promo code TAXDAY18.

Omaha Steaks – Get a free two-pound ham when you place an online order for more than $59. The promo runs through April 17 or until supplies run out.

P.F. Chang’s – Get 15% off takeout on April 16 & 17. Use promo code TAXDAY. $200 maximum discount. Details here.

Planet Fitness – Get a free hydromassage from now to April 21. No membership is required, but you’ll need this coupon.

Quiznos – Get 10.40% off any purchase, including catering orders Tuesday. It’s only valid for Toasty Point loyalty members. New members also get a free four-inch sub for downloading the Quiznos smartphone app. Details here.

Schlotzsky’s – Get a free small original with the purchase of chips and a medium drink. Offer not valid for catering, online orders or a third-party delivery.

Sonic – Half-priced cheeseburgers. You’re limited to five per customer. Also, right now, the restaurant has half-priced shakes, floats and ice cream slushes after 8 p.m.

Staples  Free shredding services at Staples. You can shred up to one pound with this coupon. The deal ends on April 21.

Taco John’s – Get a free beef taco on Taco Tuesday. On the company’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, you can grab a coupon that will get you the freebie. It’s only valid on Tax Day.
