WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have arrested a man and woman in connection to thefts of money from laundry machines at apartment complexes and laundromats.

The 16 burglary reports spanned the city from November 21 of last year to January 5. Officer Charley Davidson said the suspects would drill out the locks on washer and dryer coin boxes and steal the money.

The owner of MacArthur Laundry tells KAKE News he spent about $1,300 in repairs. Combined, the thefts cost businesses more than $10,000 in damages.

"I think it's just messed up honestly. Like why even go to that point? It's kinda low," MacArthur Laundry customer, Shelby Coleman said of the thefts.

Kyle Miller, 32, and Taylor Roberts, 25, were booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on January 9 and have been charged with a combined 33 counts of destruction of property, burglary and theft.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Roberts is on Community Corrections for convictions of burglary and theft last year.
