WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say a 25-year-old man has died after he was shot several times outside a north Wichita convenience store.

Officers were called at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday to a shooting at the Food Mart in the 1400 block of North Market. Officer Charley Davidson said as the victim exited the Food Mart, a light-colored vehicle pulled up and a man inside fired multiple rounds.

The victim, identified as Javier Carbajal, was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital where he later died.

Detailed suspect and vehicle descriptions were not provided.

Officer Davidson said investigators don't believe the shooting was random, and they're working to determine if it was gang-related.

Anyone with information is asked to call WPD detectives at (316) 268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.

Sunday's deadly shooting was Wichita's 7th homicide of 2018.
