5-year-old Kansas child hurt in hit-and-run

DODGE CITY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Dodge City police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver who took off after hitting a 5-year-old child.

The incident happened at around 1:45 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Kirk Street. The police department said on Facebook that the child ran across the road and was struck by a westbound red pickup.

The child suffered a head injury and a broken femur and was flown to a hospital.
