Kansas sex offender charged with producing child porn

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KAKE) -

A 22-year-old Kansas woman has been indicted on charges of producing child pornography. U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said Wednesday.

Kayla Michelle Simpson, of Junction City, is charged with one count of using a child to produce pornography and one count of violating the conditions imposed on a registered sex offender. The crime is alleged to have occurred in July of 2016 in Junction City.

Simpson is accused of enticing a 16-year-old victim to engage in sexual activity for the purpose of producing child pornography.

If convicted, Simpson faces a between 15 and 30 years in federal prison on the production charge and up to 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000 on the sex offender charge. 

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Simpson was convicted of indecent solicitation of a child in 2015. She's currently listed as an inmate at the Topeka Correctional Facility.
