Wichita police say a 21-year-old woman intentionally hit a vehicle, causing one person to suffer critical injuries on Wednesday.

Officers were called at around 10:30 a.m. to an injury accident at Lincoln and Market. Officer Charley Davidson said a man in one of the three vehicles involved was hospitalized in critical condition.

Davidson said a Ford Econoline van was waiting at the stop light a Toyota Avalon was behind the van. That's when a Mercury Grand Marquis plowed into the back of the Toyota, which then hit the back of the van.

A 56-year-old man in the Toyota was critically hurt. Two others in the car and two people in the van were not seriously hurt.

The investigation showed that the 21-year-old woman intentionally hit the back of the car. She was arrested and booked for three counts of aggravated battery and outstanding warrants. Jail records identified her as Alexis Huffman.

"The investigation doesn't show that she knew these individuals or was targeting anybody in specific, but this was an intentional act," Davidson said.
