Goddard and Bishop Carroll prepare for Class 5A Sub-State showdown

Posted: Updated:

Bishop Carroll and Goddard are all set for a Class 5A Sub-State showdown this Friday night.

These two met last year in the second round of the playoffs with the eventual state runners up Lions taking down the Golden Eagles 20-12.

This year, Carroll is on a roll. Only one loss coming to Derby in Week 5. Goddard beat those same Panthers 50-20 in Week 2.

Both clubs are very familiar with each other and are ready for battle.

"I've been looking forward to it all year, pretty much. They're a good team, they play hard, they're disciplined Schuckman leaving, I don't think they've had any drop off since then so it's going to be a matchup to see I think," Goddard left guard Aaron Valentine said.

"Their defense has a great secondary and they're very, one of their safeties he's a great safety, so they've got a strong defense," Carroll quarterback Braden Howell added. "So much respect to those guys."

Kick-off from Goddard at 7 p.m. Friday. The winner will face off with either Mill Valley or St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. in Pittsburg.
