ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (KAKE) -

A Wichita teenager received national recognition at Miss America on Thursday night.

Greeshma Reddy received a trip to Atlantic City, $3,000 scholarship, and the chance to accept the award at Miss America.

Reddy was named first-runner-up for the Local Miracle Maker award. She raised $12,921 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and was recognized for raising the second highest amount before competing for the state tile.

"It was incredible to get the chance to go to Miss America, not as Miss Kansas, but also representing my state and for CMN was really special. CMN was my main focus for this year. Being recognized for that award and being called for that was really special to me," said Reddy.

First place was awarded to Miss South Carolina, Suzi Roberts, who raised $23,440 before her state pageant. She went on to win the National Miracle Maker award for raising $63,000 before the national pageant.

Miss America will be broadcast live from Atlantic City on Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
