WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police say a 16-year-old Northwest High School student was tased after causing a disturbance inside the school.

A school resource officer called for immediate assistance at around 1:15 p.m. Friday. Officer Charley Davidson says the student was punching walls and lockers and was being uncooperative when contacted by the school resource officer and two board of education security officers.

"The student pushed a BOE officer," Davidson said. "A Sedgwick County Deputy was also in the school and assisted with the situation by deploying a Taser as the 3 officers were having difficulty with the student."

The boy was taken into custody and treated an an area hospital for minor injuries. He was then booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility for battery of a school official and resisting arrest.

No officers were injured.
