Wichita man gets 2 life sentences for molesting children

A Wichita man has been ordered to serve two life sentences for child sex crimes.

District Court Judge Syrios on Thursday sentenced 62-year-old Danny Alexander to two consecutive life sentences. He was convicted in May of two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a 4- or 5-year-old child in 2007 and a 9-year-old boy in 2015.

Alexander has a prior aggravated sexual battery conviction from 1992. The victim was 5 years old at the time of the offense, the Sedgwick County DA's office says.

Alexander must serve a minimum of 40 years for each case before he would be eligible for parole.

"If he is ever released from prison, he will be required to register pursuant to the Kansas Offender Registration Act and he will have lifetime Parole with Electronic Monitoring as a condition of that parole," a release from the DA's office says.
