KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Royals have placed
outfielder Mark Teahen on the 15-day disabled list.
Teahen has a hyperextended left elbow and forearm strain from
trying to make a diving catch at Oakland last week. The move is
retroactive to August 19th.
----
The Royals purchased the contract of right-hander Billy Buckner
from Triple-A Omaha. He was 9-7 with a 3.78 ERA there, including 15
starts. Manager Buddy Bell says Buckner will be used in middle and
long relief.
Buckner was a second-round pick in the 2004 draft but has never
pitched in the majors.
----
The Royals also moved designated hitter Mike Sweeney to the
60-day disabled list. Sweeney is scheduled to begin a minor league
rehab assignment with Omaha and could be activated September 1st.
----
Pitcher John Thomson was recalled from his rehab assignment. He
went on the disabled list July 16th with lower back spasms.
