The teen who attacked Kansas City Royals coach Tom Gamboa during a game in Chicago will spend five years on probation.
The 15-year-old has also been ordered to undergo mandatory counseling and perform 30 hours community service. Those were the punishments asked for by both sides.
The boy ran onto the field with his father during a game at Comiskey Park and attacked Gamboa, who was coaching first base and never saw them coming.
Gamboa said during a hearing last week that the boy should receive probation because he had already spent a month in juvenile detention.
The boy's father has pleaded innocent to aggravated battery and mob action charges.
