KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City Chiefs coach Herm Edwards
says an injury to Priest Holmes is being evaluated amid reports
that the running back could be out this week and possibly much
longer.
The 34-year-old Holmes briefly left the Chiefs' game at
Indianapolis last week. A report on FOXSports.com says Holmes
re-injured his neck and his immediate future could be in jeopardy.
Holmes returned to football this season after being out almost
two years with head and neck injuries he sustained in October 2005.
He has started the last two games in place of Larry Johnson, who
is out for a third straight week with a foot injury.
If Holmes can't play, rookie Kolby Smith -- the team's only
remaining running back -- would start against Oakland this week.
