KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Jared
Allen is the AFC's defensive player of the month for October.
After missing the first two games of the season as a penalty for
his DUI convictions, Allen has piled up the sacks.
The 6-foot-6, 270-pounder is second in the AFC with eight sacks
and is tied for second in the NFL with New York Giants defensive
end Osi Umenyiora and Green Bay's Aaron Kampman. Philadelphia's
Trent Cole leads the league with nine.
Allen has done it in just five games, helping the Chiefs win
four of those after an 0-2 start.
