New Royals skipper introduced
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Trey Hillman just showed his new
employer he'll go a long way for a job. The 44-year old Hillman
flew from Japan to Kansas City to be introduced as the new Royals
The new skipper, who has no major league experience as either a
player, coach or manager, says he hopes to work closely with Royals
general manager Dayton Moore in an effort to build a championship
The Royals haven't been to the post-season since winning the
World Series in 1985.
Hillman headed right back to Japan after the news conference,
where he's managing the Nippon Ham Fighters in the Japanese World
Hillman was hired Friday to replace Buddy Bell who stepped down
after failing to get a contract extension.
