The new golf season for Tiger Woods is starting the way the old one did — with a defeat on the links. He finished in the middle of the pack over the weekend at the Farmers Insurance Open, closing yesterday with a 3-over-par 75.
What makes Woods' unremarkable performance so remarkable is that he did it at Torrey Pines in San Diego, a course where he has won seven times on the pro golf tour, including the 2008 U.S. Open.
Until now, he had never finished out of the top 10 in a PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines.
Said Woods after the tournament yesterday: "I have some work to do."
