Rory McIlroy is shaking off his final round collapse at the Masters last week and shares the lead at the Malaysian Open after a rain-shortened second round.
McIlroy shot an 8-under 64 on Friday for a two-day total of 11-under 133. Alexander Noren of Sweden is tied with McIlroy after a second-round 69 in a round cut short by thunder and lightning.
Play at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club was halted for nearly three hours before it resumed. Masters champion Charl Schwartzel was among 77 players who failed to complete their rounds. Play will continue Saturday.
McIlroy of Northern Ireland led last week's Masters for 63 holes before a back nine of 43 crushed his hopes of winning a major tournament.
