"One of the announcers talked about the transplant all of the athletes from college sports. So i looked into it, and i fit into the categories that they were looking for and i sent in a resume, and got invited to a tryout," said Vogt.

The resume was quite impressive as a three-sport athlete in high school and a member of the Kansas State University women's rowing team.

Before she knew it, she was training in Lake Placid, NY and traveling all over, even to other countries, as a member of the Team USA rookie women's bobsled team.

"I'm looking to make the national team, which is the team that goes to the Olympics," she said. "But they have Olympic trials. And if you are the best on that given day you could be going to the Olympics, too."

It is a long trip to the Olympic podium. After all, bobsledding is an acquired taste.

"I don't know anybody that liked it the first time down. It is they throw you in and being in a washing machine, you are just getting rattled around. You have no idea what to expect," she said.

But through the grind, there is the chance that her trip through the America's Cup tour will land her among the nation's elite.

"It is a dream to metal at the Olympics, to be the best on that day in the world," Vogt admits. "But right now, it is all about just competing for Team USA. Getting to wear USA on my back is pretty cool."

The America's Cup Tour is entirely self-funded, so Vogt has kept her dream alive through fundraising. To help Nicole reach her dream, please visit her Facebook page via the donation link below under "RELATED LINKS"
