A school bus carrying children in kindergarten and elementary school collided with a pick-up truck Tuesday morning in Geary County.

KAKE's Topeka-area sister station reports the accident occurred on Highway 77 in Milford just before 8 a.m.

Kansas State Troopers say the Junction City bus, driven by Robert Rodney Jr., was at the stop sign on Dundon Road and pulled out onto Highway 77 without yielding to traffic. He collided with a pick up truck driven by 42-year-old Cynthia Haberer-Deckard.

The bus had 27 children on board, in kindergarten and elementary school. Troopers say the children were scared and were checked out by emergency responders. No one was injured and another bus was brought out to the accident scene so the students could be transported to nearby Milford Elementary School.

The bus driver was cited for failing to yield to cross traffic. Officials say the driver told them he did not see the victim's truck.
