It's time again to honor another outstanding local teacher with our weekly Golden Apple Award.
This week's Apple goes to Pat Stevens, a kindergarten teacher at Stanley Elementary in south Wichita.
KAKE's Jeff Herndon surprised Mr. Stevens. Dawson Grimsley of Davis Moore Auto presented the Golden Apple donating $250 dollars and Papa John's Pizza threw the entire classroom a pizza party.
This is Mr. Steven's final year of teaching, and he says his career has changed his life. "Giant learning experience. Giant growth. Finding out about kids and everything about them," Stevens says.
"Every child that I have had to be a part of their life and to affect them. That's what scared me the most about teaching," he continues. "(My teaching would affect) the rest of their life. If I mess it up, they will be messed up for life. I have grown a lot from that."
