Hutchinson Schools sent a note home with students Monday regarding the threat. The note reads:

"Some of our schools have received a photocopied document, taped to their front doors that state the world will end Sept. 30 or Oct. 1. The document also makes religious end-of-time references.

"The safety of students and staff is our top priority. While we do not believe these threats are credible or are aimed specifically at our schools, we take all threats seriously and immediately turned the matter over to police for their assessment.

"If you have any questions, please call me at any time."

The note, to which it refers, was a photocopied document written in
long-hand on spiral-bound notebook paper. It was taped to some of the
elementary school doors and was generic, talking about the Rapture and
not about any school or individual in particular.

The district is working with Hutchinson Police on this matter.

Letters were found Monday at Allen, Morgan and Faris elementary schools, and a letter also was found Friday at McCandless Elementary School.
