Wichita City Council members unanimously voted to endorse the 10-year Wichita Bicycle Master Plan at today's meeting.

More than 4,000 people have been involved in the two-year long planning process.

"It's been very robust and lots of community dialogue. We think that's reflected in the plan," said Scott Wadle, senior planner for the City of Wichita.

The council also voted to approve the 2013 City of Wichita Transportation Enhancement applications and the creation of the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board.

The City currently allocates $500,000 every other year in the Capital Improvement Program for bicycle enhancement projects. If this continues, Wadle said there are federal transportation programs that the city can apply for bicycle infrastructure projects.

The City will make an announcement on their website to accept applications for the new advisory board.
