VP-Elect Does Construction Work On Day Of Service

Monday, January 19, 2009

Vice President-elect Joe Biden spent part of his day of service hanging dry wall at a Habitat for Humanity home in Northeast Washington.

It was part of the next administration's overall message of honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., by doing community service Monday.

Biden, dressed in blue jeans, a long-sleeve shirt and baseball cap, chatted with other volunteers. Biden is known for enjoying home projects.

After he spent some time working, volunteers wished him good luck tomorrow.

Biden said: "We're going to be there with a couple million of our closest friends."

He also told the volunteers that there is such "anticipation and excitement around the world" about the change of power in Washington.
