Republican Rep. Jerry Moran says he will continue to fight for improved health care access for members of the military and Kansas veterans.
Moran serves on the House subcommittee on veterans affairs. During a telephone call from his Washington office Wednesday, he said that more is needed to ensure that veterans receive care.
He said the Department of Veterans Affairs had made progress in providing access, especially in rural states.
However, he said more must be done to improve the speed at which veterans' benefit claims are processed, so they aren't forced to wait months or years for access.
Moran was elected to the House in 1997 and is running for the Senate in 2010 for the seat being vacated by Republican Sam Brownback.
