Swing-state Missouri gets a fresh round of attention on the last day before Tuesday's election.

At Longview Community College south of Kansas City, Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden told a crowd of about 1,500 that he and Barack Obama offer the most relief for middle-class Americans.

Biden said an Obama White House would end the war in Iraq and focus on job creation. He said Democrats would "re-establish the middle class and give them a fighting chance."

Monday's political schedule underscores how important Missouri is to both parties.

Democrats have focused much of their firepower on big-city suburbs, areas that analysts see as key to overcoming Republican John McCain's perceived grip on rural Missouri.

Later Monday, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton was scheduled to rally Democrats in the St. Louis suburb of St. Charles.
