Clinton, Ark. (AP) -- Authorities say two people were killed and 19 others injured when a logging truck in north-central Arkansas barreled out of control after a tire blew.
The vehicle overturned Monday afternoon on a U.S. 65 bridge in Clinton and its cargo was dumped onto more than two dozen construction workers. The wreck occurred about 70 miles north of Little Rock.
Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley says there was nowhere for the workers to run to escape the logs.
The logging truck's driver suffered minor injuries. Of the 19 people hurt, hospital officials say 12 suffered "major injuries."
The crew was working on a construction project to widen the bridge from three lanes to five.
State police spokesman Bill Sadler says the investigation could take a month or longer to complete.
