Hundreds of Kansans gather at the El Dorado Civic Center to pack a million meals for those in Haiti. The people are here helping Project NUMANA, a local food packaging project which has been serving the people of Haiti over the years.

"At the end of December we packaged 285 thousand meals for Haiti not knowing this was going to happen," said Rick McNary, founder of NUMANA. "Now, we're helping due to the earthquake," he said.

McNary said he is overwhelmed with the amount of volunteers and supporters. Saturday, there was a line at the Civic Center with people wanting to come in and help.

Hundreds of people have showed up to fill bags with food, load up boxes, and ship them off to Haiti. People said it's the little they can do to help all of the people in a country with so much need. They said it's their way of paying their good fortunes forward.

"I was contacted by the Salvation Army International last night," said McNary. "They wanted to know if the people of Kansas could extend their mission and gather one million meals... I said, no problem."

McNary and NUMANA'S mission will resume next weekend at the Kansas Coliseum. Starting at 8AM Saturday, January 23, people will pack the Brit Brown Arena at the coliseum to once again, pack bags full of food to send to Haiti. For more information on this food packing event, you can visit NUMANA's website at www.numanainc.com
