An organizer of the "Summer of Mercy" protests in Wichita will be back at the site of the demonstrations today.
Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry will be in Wichita this afternoon, as part of a 12 city tour to mobilize opposition to the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Terry has scheduled a 2:45 p.m. news conference outside of the Women's Health Care Services building, at 5107 E. Kellogg.
"We must stop permitting this hypocrisy, cowardice, and treachery in our midst. Pro-life voters are calling on pro-life Senators to filibuster Sotomayor", Terry said in a news release.
Thousands of abortion opponents came to Wichita as part of the "Summer of Mercy" protests in 1991.
Abortion rights supporters are also planning to gather at the clinic this afternoon, to protest Terry's appearance.
